An ant at work... The La Fourmilière (ant house) training sessions are offered to our members at the discounted price of $15 each ($25 for non-members). These training sessions last three hours and focus on Free and Open Source applications such as:
  • MoinMoin (a versatile Wiki engine);
  • AlternC (a free shared Web hosting control panel);
  • Drupal (a powerful Content Management System);
  • The GIMP (the most popular Free image manipulating platform).

On Friday, February 26th we will be hosting FACIL, an advocacy organisation that promotes software freedom and open formats, for our next 5@7. FACIL will be filling us in on the initiatives underway to promote the adoption of Free, Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS): the status of FLOSS within the government of Quebec, ACTA, tou.tv. Please join us for a stimulating and fun discussion about making inroads for free software in traditionally closed-source environments.

Koumbit Happy Hour: Web-based Independent Journalism on the 2010 Olympics

We have invited members of the Media Co-op to come fill us in on how they've used the web, and particularly Drupal, to coordinate the production of an alternative independent news source. We'll also get a glimpse at the reasons behind the ongoing resistance to the 2010 Olympic Games. Please join us for a very special Koumbit Happy Hour on Friday, February 5th, to meet the Co-op and talk about the Olympics.

L'automne ne marque pas seulement le retour au travail et la contemplation nostalgique des feuilles tombantes, mais également la reprise des 5@7 mensuels de Koumbit.

Nous vous invitons donc à jaser autour d'une bière dans nos locaux le vendredi 2 octobre 2009 dès 17h.

Pour la rentrée, nous avons décidé de changer un peu la formule de cet évènement en invitant des représentants d'organismes communautaires que nous trouvons intéressants.
