Copenhagen Day 2

It was a tough second morning for us, but things really picked up for the keynote. Rasmus' presentation consisted of a fairly thorough overview of the weakest points in Drupal core for performance, and showed off some of the neat features of php 5.3. I learned a lot, and will probably need to rewatch his presentation a couple of times to understand everything.

I spent the afternoon in activism-themed BoFs, where I experienced severe culture shock. My culture of activism is a little rougher and broader than the very polite NGO culture that was represented at these events. The sessions covered DrupalCRM, a potential activism module, and a guy's summer of code project to tweak OpenAtrium to the needs of organisations. I took the opporunity to try and steer DrupalCRM development towards working on integration of existing contact databases with Drupal rather than roll their own, and there was some interest in the decisions module.

The Drupal Commerce module was on the table all day. Everyone planning work for Drupal 7 is assuming that their commerce integration will be with that module, and the one time I dared to mention Ubercart 3 I was generally discouraged.

Antoine and Adrian hard at work

Antoine spent the bulk of the day working on Ægir. They rolled out a new release today (0.4alpha12), and with DNS re-instated, it looks very good for a beta release soon. They also prepared for the big presentation and BoF session tomorrow.

Omar will blog about positioning in relation to different communities and the need for aegir as a community based solution when he gets back. He was very impressed with the display suite modules, and encourages all you design-folk to review it. Also check out the conference organizing distribution and install profile for coming Drupal camps.

I spent the evening at the Coder's lounge - rtried to do some work on uc_hosting, and reviewed a few patches headed for Drupal 7 core, before heading over to the Foubar for a little pool. Turning in early, so as to get a good start on the day tomorrow.
